Contemporary Canadian Literature in English: European Perspectives
The reception of Canadian literature has changed dramatically since the 1920's when Douglas Bush wrote that "No one reads a Canadian novel unless by mistake". Beginning with the 1970's Canadian literature has come into the foreground with the rise of such writers as Margaret Atwood, Alice Munro and Leonard Cohen, to quote only a few. This collection of essays is meant to offer a view of the European critical response to Canadian writing, to present new directions in Canadian letters and to analyze the work of the most important contemporary Canadian authors writing in English.
We
invite articles on authors, texts, genres, and other important issues
that will help bring attention to the study of contemporary Canadian
literature in the European context. We are also interested in essays on a
wide range of fields such as the Canadian post-modern, post-colonial
Theory, Gender Studies, Ethnic Studies and other areas of critical
investigation.
Articles previously published in academic journals are also accepted.
Deadline for submissions: 250-word abstracts should be submitted to the
e-mail address
