An international conference
University of Glasgow, Scotland, 22-24 March 2007
Quebec cinema in the past four years has been on a roll, achieving record-breaking shares of the domestic box office, an Oscar for Denys Arcand's Les Invasions barbares, and international distribution for successes such as La Grande Seduction and C.R.A.Z.Y.
This major conference seeks not only to examine the texts and contexts associated with this current phenomenon, but also to establish a balance-sheet of the forty or fifty years of Quebec cinema's existence as such. The conference will also be concerned to look at Quebec cinema in its international context, and contributions are actively sought on its Atlantic, including Scottish, dimensions.
Proposals for papers are invited, of approximately 300 words, on any aspect of Quebec cinema, to reach us by 1 August 2006. Please contact Professor Bill Marshall, French Section, 16 University Gardens, Glasgow G12 8QL, Scotland, UK; tel.: + 44 (0) 141 330 4590; fax: + 44 (0) 141 330 4234,
