General literature

Canada's Early Women Writers - a Biographical Database
Free to access database, compiled by Simon Fraser University Library. Contains biographical and publication information for more than 470 women who lived in Canada or wrote about Canada, and authored an English-language book or pamphlet of fiction or poetry that was published before 1940.

Canadian Literature Archive
A project of the English Department of the University of Manitoba. The archive aims to electronically reprint out-of-print (and out-of-copyright) Canadian works. The site also provides bibliographies and short biographies of Canadian authors.

Canadian Literature: A Quarterly of Criticism and Review
The website contains a complete table of contents for all issues (starting in 1959). The resources section is a useful list for Canadian literature, with an emphasis on Anglophone literature.

League of Canadian Poets
'The League of Canadian Poets, a non-profit arts service organization, is the national association of professional publishing and performing poets in Canada. Its purpose is to enhance the status of poets and nurture a professional poetic community to facilitate the teaching of Canadian poetry at all levels of education and to develop the audience for poetry by encouraging publication, performance and recognition of Canadian poetry nationally and internationally.' The website offers practical advice, an events listing, and a "find a poet" service.

British Columbia Folklore Society

Folklore Studies Association of Canada
An educational non-profit association, dedicated to promoting research and education in folklore studies. The website includes details of events and calls for papers, and contents (and some abstracts) of the Association's Bulletin and yearly journal (Ethnologies). The Other Links section includes relevant journals, societies and university departments.

Memorial University of Newfoundland Folklore and Language Archive
An introduction to the folk songs, folk tales and narratives, and folk music of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Nova Scotia Archives - Helen Creighton
Archival descriptions, and digitised resources, from the collections held at Nova Scotia Archives. Helen Creighton (1899-1989) was one of the two great seminal collectors of folk songs and folk music in Canada.
